Review of The Natural (1984) by Jim C — 29 Oct 2011
This movie has a special place in my heart... it introduce me to the only sport I really grew to love. I remember being a kid, channeling Roy Hobbs with every swing of the bat. It romanticized the American past time into an immortality that neither football nor basketball can ever enjoy.
Sure, professional baseball today has fallen victim to overpaid and juiced-up athletes, greed and commercialism. But this movie showed baseball at its best, where heroes are born and diamonds are surrounded by cornfields.
