Review of The Namesake (2006) by Cynthia T — 01 Jul 2008
About the first and second generation immigrants to America. I thought it was powerful in showing rather than telling the story about cultural differences, similarities and adaptation. If it's one thing I got out of this movie, it's to appreciate your given name forever, given by your parents at birth.
It is special, unique and has so much significance and symbolism carried within it- no one can take that away from you, except yourself. I personally felt it engaged with my spiritual side. Two thumbs up for 'The Namesake'.
