Review of The Name of the Rose (1986) by Chris B — 20 Sep 2007
Considering the complexity of Umberto Eco's novel, this is a great adaption. Only the main story remains, as many sub-plots and intellectual debates have been trimmed from the novel. However, much remains to portray an intelligent medieval murder mystery.
Sean Connery appears to be relishing his role and even Christian Slater surprises with a solid performance. It's better if you've read the book though!
