The book it's stll one of my favourite, even after 20 years since I read it the first time (the finale is different!).
The movie, perhaps due to its faster and shallower nature as media, is not as good and intense as the book.
Still atmosphere and tension persist, and acting (Mr. Perlman above all) and photography are perfect. A must-see.
