Review of The Naked Kiss (1964) by Donovan D — 21 Nov 2007
It begins with Wagnerian bombast: a prostitute beating up her pimp, and right away you know you're in the sordid pulp fiction world of Samuel Fuller. His melodramatic tale of the redemption of a prostitute is filled with noirish glimpses into the seedy underbelly of America, and Fuller's dead-on cynicism makes what could have been simply sensationalism into a slice of social commentary.
A remarkable film that has not lost any of its power.
