Review of The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988) by Itraveltoearth A — 06 Jul 2009
This was the first movie in my life where I cried because of excessive laughter. The Naked Gun trilogy is one of the funniest films I've ever seen, and it's slap-stick and stupid humor makes it all the while an instant classic comedy.
When I first saw Naked Gun: From The Files of Police Squad, I imagined that since it was an old movie, the humor would be pretty good and the acting would be funny. The acting is definitely not great, but Leslie Nielson and his series of mistakes just makes you forget about all the politically and physically impossible events and outcomes, and just makes the movie fun to watch.
I was laughing so hard, I had to rewind the part and watch it again. It was that funny. I even had to pause a few times, just so I could drain out the laughs.
To some people, the film may be dirty, and maybe a little disgusting, but it's too funny, you won't even care.
It's a classic comedy, and the trilogy made Leslie Nielson more famous in cinema, even after his great, comedic work in "Airplane.".
Watch this movie, then watch 2 and a half, then watch 33 and a three-quarters. All of them are funny, and doesn't disappoint.
