Innovative in its use of actual locals rather than sets and in its blow by blow account of a murder case, The Naked City could have served to be a little more innovative in its plot and character's actions.

This, and the overuse of narration and ill-placed humor, definitely holds the film back. It does have an air of authenticity and a dark edge, and a pretty good finale, but these aspects cannot save the film as a whole.
