Review of The Naked City (1948) by Stephen H — 18 Mar 2012
This movie works on many different levels. If you love history you will love this film as a time capsule of 1947 America. Almost all the street scenes were filmed with hidden cameras so that the non-actor participants were able to react normally.
If you love crime films, this is the model for all modern crime dramas that came after. Also the police are portrayed very positively which I believe should be the case. Most police officers and detectives are honest, hard-working men and women who deserve to be portrayed this way.
