Review of The Musketeer (2001) by Finn M — 19 Jan 2008
Meh. A pretty lifeless adaptation of "The Three Musketeers". I'd read that it was worth it for the action sequences, but besides a decent sequence at the end involving ladders, I was pretty underwhelmed.
Definitely not in the same league as the action scenes in "The Matrix" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" that this one claims to be in. Tim Roth showed about the only sign of life; everyone else seemed to be sleepwalking through their roles, and Justin Chambers is a very bland D'Artagnan.
This one takes itself way too seriously. There needs to be some rollicking in a musketeer movie, and this has none.
