Review of The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984) by Kit B — 12 Feb 2010

Enjoyable movie from the Muppets gang. The movie begins with Kermit and gang performing their musical in the college upon graduation. They decide to go broadway. The first attempt the producer demand a payment up front.

They have no money. He turns out to be a cheat. And they have no luck in finding a producer. Kermit kind of blow up whenthe rest are always depending on him. They went into a diner but have no money for food.

The boss is kind enough to let them have free soup. His daughter Juliana Donald becomes Kermit good friend. While the rest feels that Kermit is right and lie to him they have job offers out of town and everyone split.

Kermit is working in the diner. Piggy is spying on Kermit and got jealous whenever they are close. Kermit had plan on how to get his musical ideas across. He first pretend to be some good friend of a big shot producer and blabbering his way into his office and hand him the script but too bad he didn't read it.

Next is pretending to be a big shot and in the posh restaurant, the "whispering campaign" nearly works with the help of Rizzo and gang but screw up when they start grabbing food. When Juliana tries to cheer Kermit up in the park by exercising, Piggy's purse was snatch and she give chase.

Kermit saw her and the misunderstanding clear up. One day a broadway producer send him a letter and finally the show got the green light. But Kermit was hit by a car and he had amnesia. The show is going to start in 2 weeks time and all of them are searching for Kermit.

He starts life anew and end up been hired by an advertising company. On the opening day, Kermit and his associates went to the same diner. The gang hijack him to the stage. Piggy was angry he couldn't remember anything about marrying her and she give him a flying punch and he regain his memory.

The show goes on with everyone appearing on stage and the finale wedding piece of Kermit marrying Piggy.
