Review of The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984) by Matthew C — 21 Apr 2014
Still with its highlights, the baby flashback, the opening and closing numbers, and gags sprinkled throughout, this 3rd installment in the Muppets movie universe may not reach so high as some of the other adventures, but it is a great setting for the gang.
New York suits the muppets and the arduous task of taking Broadway by storm is more than relatable for any artist besieging the gates of success. Miss Piggy's jealous rampage is both scary and perfect.
I still think rarely do the movies bring more color or extravagant hilarity to the muppets world than the TV show does but for all of us who grew up with the muppets this is an undeniably much needed addition to the Jim Henson collection.
