Review of The Mouse That Roared (1959) by Edith N — 23 Jun 2011
The Mouse That Roared features comedic genius Peter Sellers in three of his earlier, before international fame roles, and is the forth film in which he is seen playing multiple characters, each with a distinct personality, and posture.
The Mouse That Roared is a rather underexposed early work of Peter Sellers which really shows his abilities as an actor: As a pathetic soldier, queen, and her snobby Prime Minister.
While the film can not entirely be mentioned as an intelligent film, it is certainly clever in many regards, but by no means a film for a viewer searching for realism. However, once you suspend logic, you can see how such a darkly satirical situation could occur given proper circumstances.
