Review of The Mouse That Roared (1959) by Daniel H — 14 Jan 2011
Funny political satire on the smallest country in the world, Grand Fenwick, which declares war on the U.S., expecting to surrender and get economic aid, but instead, wins the war and gets America's secret weapon, the Q-Bomb.
Peter Sellers has three roles as the Duchess of Grand Fenwick, the scheming prime minister, and Tully, the head of the military, and gets the most laughs in the third role. William Hartnell plays it straight as Will, Tully's abler second in command.
The overtones of nuclear disarmament are apparent in this film.
