Review of The Most Dangerous Game (1932) by Josh H — 05 Nov 2009
A solid early talkie from early 1932, probably was made in no time between filming for King Kong since it uses the same jungle set and has Fay Wray and the same producer. A real early plot device from the short story with the same name, of man being hunted by man which one of my favorites of this ilk is the suprisingly good Surviving the Game with Ice T and Rutger Hauer.
Fay Wray is always beautiful and does her normal maiden in distress routine as well as anybody, Joel McCrea as the hero is pretty lacking imho but not bad, but Leslie Banks as the sinister Count Zaroff does a fantastic job.
Also the film looks good for its age, with some good moving chase scenes and just general well done cinematography. Its a quick film at a little over a hour long which works well, is a nice little film for fans of any of the actors or for fans of the classics that holds up somewhat well.
