This is like Running on Empty in the jungle, or Swiss Family Robinson with a bit more bite. I thought it would be much darker for some reason, but the production design and the final outcome combine with the voiceover to give it a mildly Disney feel, despite the Aguirre, Wrath of God-esque raft in the final sequence.
