I think the details in the first soldiers death, Douglas I believe, were a beautiful tribute. , The deaths of the two men could have been written better as they did with john doe soldier, beautiful brotherhood spring the scared boy from reality.

I did find it odd that for someone who so loved rhe Madonna and child work, fast any without any real attempt to save himself the priests or the art. which came fast and without any actual fight, Clooney used that soldiers death over the Madonna and child cathedral statue as clearly a horizon line for the rest of the movie.

There were such beautiful well written parts of the movie yet it did skip out on some great opportunity to speak about more than just three of the great works stolen and recovered, thr families of the men, the Russians role, why the Germans backed down and ran so fast over rhe money, etc.

There was no clear turning point in the movie defined by anything other than when the men found the gold.
