Review of The Mist (2007) by Ivan C — 10 Jul 2015
Cliche, boring, not memorable in any way. My mind is literally blown at the user reviews this mediocre movie is receiving. To say this movie is horrifying or even a little creepy is an insult to horror movies.
The plot is very weak, the audience is given a very general description of what's going on in this movie in a matter of 30 seconds about an hour and a half into the movie. That's it, nothing is explained the rest of the movie and it seems as though the director did not care whatsoever.
Acting was far from good, me and my family found ourselves laughing at the reactions some characters would have; all for the sake of creating a little drama in this boring film. We also receive no backstory on any of the characters, so it's really hard to give a crap when they end up dying at the wrath of some "horrifying" big mosquito.
Marcia Harden plays the typical religious nut and every survivor within the market responds to her "prophecy" just as you would imagine; they all turn into idiotic zombies that do as they are told.
CGI was okay, monsters were not very imaginative, and the ending was just Eh. Seems more like the movie was really desperate to provide any sort of suprise to the audience, and in the end it really did not make much sense at all.
So the mist just happens to disappear as these tanks are driving down the road? These monsters are supposed to be from another dimension! Yet some flame throwers and a couple guys in hazmat suits seem to have it all under control.
If this review saves even 1 person from wasting 2 hours on this movie, I've done well.
