Review of The Mission (1986) by Craig E — 26 Dec 2009
A near masterpiece.
It has all the ingredients of a classic - great acting by great actors, breath-taking settings, fantastic soundtrack, love, war, and a very powerful message. Most of all, it feels genuine, which is something many likewise movie fail at.
The only thing is, it was a bit overly simplistic. Straight forward story and an ending that seems unavoidable. I also would have liked to see a few of the other characters, like the priest played by Liam Neeson or the Native King developed more.
8.5/10 overall, an incredibly underrated film.
