Review of The Mission (1986) by Simon H — 15 Aug 2013
I found The Mission to be a stunning historical drama, beautifully shot and well acted. It does seem to suffer from being shown a lot in schools, and it really isn't the kind of film that you watch with your friends.
It deserves to be absorbed, ruminated on and recommended. Be aware, as a film it does not have many nice things to say about religion in general (and catholicism in particular), but as an agnostic I thoroughly enjoyed it as a historical movie rather than a religious one.
