Review of The Mission (1986) by Noah W — 08 Aug 2013
The Mission is a very authentic, well directed and well written movie filled with powerful themes including redemption, slavery, and failure. Thankfully all of these themes come across really well in the movie and aren't corny like many movies treat these types of themes. Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro are both terrific as the characters they play as well as Liam Neeson. The only thing that really stops me from giving this a higher rating is the pacing. The pacing for this movie was very very tedious and too long. Even though the story was good in this movie, it didn't need to be so dragged out. But otherwise, great characters, great script and a great historical film.
8/10.
