Review of The Miracle of Morgan's Creek (1944) by Johannes M — 09 Feb 2009
A most unique masterpiece from the greatest writer to come out of the old Hollywood system, preston sturges. it's a miracle in itself that a comedy this daring could have even been made in its time, the early 40s.
beneath the hilarity, slapstick, and screwball plot machinations is a subversive portrait of the American community trying to hold onto innocence after having recovered from the great depression, yet recognizing that the world had inextricably changed as WWII raged on.
