Review of The Meg (2018) by Jeff G — 10 Aug 2018

I read the Meg book series and it's one of my favorites. I know the movie is never the same as the book, but the Meg pretty much used character names and the giant shark from the book. Had this movie taken itself seriously it could have been a horror that would have ranked up there with Jaws.

Unfortunately, this movie played the more toned down, family friendly shark movie, which caused it to fail tremendously. The new storyline didn't really make much sense because while they changed the entire storyline from the book, they still tried including key parts which really didn't make sense when used in this new storyline.

Overall it was just another crappy shark movie that could have been so much better if the director actually tried.
