Review of The Meddler (2016) by Dean B — 02 Jun 2016
The Meddler maddeningly shifts between formulaic characters and plot lines and emotionally resonant performances. The roles are all quite familiar: widow of a certain age rediscovering her life, self assured man of a certain age showing her a new way to look at love, and the disagreeable child thrown in for good measure.
Susan Sarandon and J.K. Simmons breathe such fresh life into them however, that even the pedestrian Rose Byrne can't ruin this genuinely touching and occasionally genuine film.
