Review of The Matrix Revolutions (2003) by Dov D — 29 Sep 2013
In the Wachowski brother's final installment of The Matrix trilogy, something was lost in the process of transferring this film from script to screen. Because of the way the story was going, the majority of this movie had to be based in the real world as opposed to the matrix, and unfortunately, that real world just isn't as interesting.
Overall, I was happy with how the story was concluded, but it could've been done much better. The acting was good, though not as stellar as the previous installments, and the effects were upgraded, but it just felt hollow and purposeless despite the dire straights depicted.
The final fight scene with Neo and Agent Smith was epic, but the choreography was sketchy at best. As bad ass as this movie was, it had too many flaws to be considered a good film. They really shouldn't have blinded Neo.
.. That was a weird and ultimately unnecessary move. The falling action was overly melodramatic and the final scene stretched for purpose beyond what the movie offered. Bottom line, if you've seen the first two films, you obviously have to watch this one.
.. But if you haven't, well, I don't know why you're even interested in watching this one first. That's weird, watch them in order like they were intended to be viewed.
