Review of The Matrix Resurrections (2021) by Tomhug — 27 Dec 2021

Initially I felt as if this was a semi-decent "fan-generated" sequel, i.e. kinda amateurish, and made of left-over parts and ideas from the original trilogy. I think there are some interesting ideas here, and the best moments are when the movie is slightly tongue-in-cheek self-referential to the originals.

While there are some interesting ideas in the story-line, ultimately the movie is marred by clumsy editing. Late in the movie there is a sudden swing to ridiculously maudlin melodrama underscored by operatic theme music - ugh, could not go along for that ride.
