Review of The Man with the Golden Arm (1955) by Steve K — 24 Jan 2010
I want to give Preminger credit for getting on the hyper-realist bandwagon way ahead of Hollywood, but there's gotta be more to it than "this is the way it is." Like "Advise and Consent," it's worth watching but ultimately forgettable.
And if it's Sinatra you're after, stick with "Manchurian Candidate" or "From Here to Eternity.".
