Review of The Man Who Wasn't There (2001) by Joshua T — 23 Dec 2008
In noir fashion, everything was underplayed and understated... but for me, this inhibited the building of tension, rather than catalyze it. For me, this was primarily the fault of BB Thornton, who I usually enjoy.
Still, as is expected from the Coen Brothers, the characters are all fascinating, and the acting from the rest of the case is wonderfully eccentric. Maybe the film deserves an extra half star, but I expect a lot from the Coen Brothers.
