The Coens bring back the black and white mystery noir in this beautifully shot film. The Coens again are at the top of their game with their writing and direction and the collaboration with Roger Deakins always makes their films look beautiful.
Billy Bob Thornton makes listlessness and apathy an art form here and and the great supporting cast (McDormand, Gandolfini, Shalhoub, Polito, Badalucco, Johansson, Jenkins) provide superb character study.
