4/5 Stars-John Wayne is typical John Wayne, and Jimmy Stewart is his typical bumbling nervous self. Yet the two play off each other well, and Lee Marvin is such as bastard as the aforementioned Liberty Valance that you can't help but love a film like this.

Character driven and full of classic one liners (Wayne calls Stewart "pilgrim", the first time he ever used that word he made famous), it's the anthesis of a Leone western. A fun two hours, for sure.

This review of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) was written by on 30 May 2010.
