Review of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) by Kevin J — 15 Aug 2014
This one was very good and quite enjoyable. James Stewart and John Wayne are great together and for my first John Wayne film, I was not disappointed at all. Vera Miles is also good and Lee Marvin plays a great villain.
The story was very interesting and I like the way it was told and introduced. It made it all the more intriguing to follow. The set pieces and costume design are also both very good, as is the cinematography.
Now, the film looks very 1960s, so some of the acting and such is a bit over the top, but for me, that made this one all the more endearing and fun to watch. As with many of the old Westerns, I would be curious to see a remake of this one, not that I am clammering for one, since this one is pretty darn great as is.
