Review of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) by ***Charlie*** — 27 Sep 2008
This is one of the best westerns ever made. John Ford toned down the violence and made this a morality tale. Jimmy Stewart thinks that the law would punish Liberty Valance, but John Wayne finally gets him to see that in this case violence is the only way to take care of Valance, since the law had no power in the town.
It is very well written and John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart are at their best. This is also a good movie if you are studying just war theory.
