Review of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) by Monsieur R — 01 Sep 2010
Can't quite get casting Doris Day in this opposite Stewart, although she does a great job of acting, especially when their son gets abducted.
The whole plot is a stretch, but sends a warning to anyone who would travel in far off Africa and trust leaving their son's to unknown fellow travelers (who turn out to be kidnappers).
On the whole, a pretty good yarn and Stewart, as usual, gives a riveting performance, trying to get their son back and doing it all, for the most part, on his own.
After a failed assination, the son is still a hostage to the assasins. Seems strange, but guess they needed the cover. How long they would keep the kid on those grounds is also a stretch. But Stewart and Day take charge of their own problems and never beg the police for anything.
Again, a real stretch to believe, but worth the time and well shot and acted.
