Very off beat. That's the simplest way I can put it. If you have the intestinal fortitude to sit through it for multiple viewings, however, then you'll find a very rewarding movie...But, it does require those multiple viewings to make any sense out of it (strange timeskips and what seem like hallucinations muddy up the storytelling some.).
Still, one of my favourite movies. That has nothing to do with my being a Bowie fan, of course.
