Review of The Man from Laramie (1955) by Adam W — 30 Sep 2008
Mann's magnum opus and his masterpiece. Everything about this movie falls into place perfectly. Every little thing that occurs adds to the beauty and the pyschological darkness of the film. James Stewart gives one of his greatest performances as a man who cares only for revenge.
Once again, Mann beautifully downplays the romance of the movie and instead opts for such dark twists that one can't help but feel sadness at the end of the film. Amazing film.
