Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by Jack W — 02 Nov 2011
Dark, complex and breathtaking. The Maltese Falcon is one of the innovators in the mystery genre and the film that launched Humphrey Bogart to Hollywood's A List. Bogart gives an excellent, masterfully done performance, his lines are well delivered, the intensity in his eyes, posture and voice gives me chills.
At times this film can kind of confuse you do to the constant twisting of lies, betrayal etc. but it never fails, you will always be throughly entertained. This is film noir at its best, one of the films that many noir films look to as its source of inspiration notably films like Chinatown, and L.
A. Confidential. The ending is chilling, and will leave you asking questions. Its awesome truly a classic film.
