Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by Andy A — 06 Jan 2012
The Maltese Falcon is a truly classic mystery which belongs to the great Bogie. Even though the film may be incredibly complicated and confusing, the incredible John Huston script adapted from Dashiell Hammett's classic novel is filled with terrific dialogue, wonderful twists and surprising mystery.
Mary Astor is a great femme fatale, Peter Lorre is incredibly sinister and Sydney Greenstreet deservedly scored an Oscar-nomination for his awesome villain. Huston gives excellent camera work as well, but the film truly belongs to Bogart and his superb performance of the straight detective Sam Spade!
