Review of The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) by Kim R — 10 Jun 2007
It amazes me that more people haven't seen or heard of this film. This was Welles' masterpiece - even better than Kane - and it breaks my heart that we'll never see the real thing. Instead, we've got a disjointed studio edit that is still one of the best films in history: the sweeping long takes, the stunning cinematography, Agnes Moorehead's performance, the ballroom scene, that "yachtsman" line.
This is a movie made for those who love the art of cinema.
