Forty-seven years before Christopher Doyle's, The Prestige, Ingmar Bergman made Ansiktet; a film about magicians that simultaneously serves as a platform for a sort of cinematic magic trick. Bergman analyzes the moral opposition to magic with a calculated venture into the macabre and the aid of a masterful about-face performance from Max von Sydow.
