Review of The Magician (1958) by Joe H — 03 Jan 2011
From first shot to last, every frame is a meal. It's brilliant. If only for Sydow's furious gaze and the use of shadows and, of all things, hands in this film, it would still be a masterpiece. The script is great as well.
Featuring that sort of humor found in Smiles of a Summer Night combined with the fascination in death found in The Seventh Seal. Only Bergman could pull off this film.
