Review of The Magician (1958) by Mike O — 18 Feb 2008
At one level it's a clash of scientific rationalism and belief in the supernatural, providing a vehicle for a typically intense - but also at times quite humorous - Bergman portrayal of charlatanism. But it's also about acting and actors; about masks and reality; and it's a comedy which has a great horror scene. Playful and serious.
Great fun.
