Neither the potential of science nor the mystery of the supernatural is known. Why couldn't we have a sense of humour and open our mind to them? No matter how ridiculous, weird and inexplicable something is, it "has happened" and repeated before our eyes.
As long as we believe (in whatever it is), there is hope and light. No one can say "never" unless time has come.
