Review of The Magdalene Sisters (2002) by Adam F — 05 Dec 2006
Not eactly easy viewin, but well worth a watch.
The story of what wayward girls went thru in 1960s ireland- a laundry dismisal asylum run by nuns designed to make these girls pure and help them repent for what they have done wrong. corrupt money-grabbing nuns, apalling living conditions, sexual abuse and harsh work leave the girls far for pure and repentant! this is a shocking story that makes hard viewing, makes you feel what the girls are going thru and how trapped they are and how desperate their plight is to escape this hell. not for the faint hearted as u will, by the end, feel disgusted, angry, sickened and shocked, not just by what the girls are goin thru, but by the fact that this was goin on at the same time as man was on the moon, not as man was inventing the steam engine!
