Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by C Damien B — 26 Oct 2012
I am not going to lie, I wasn't too enticed with the thought of a child molester getting away with his crimes, but, then again, who is? But, this movie has it's highlights. I liked when she first found out she was killed by Mr. Harvey's character, the suspense therein. Then there were the afterlife's special effects, which I believe were on par with Mr. Jackson's effects. But, what really makes this movie earn the four stars I'm giving it is the performance Stanley Tucci gives in it.
I enjoyed Freddy Krueger's character.
He didn't scare me.
I enjoyed Michael Myer's silent kills.
He didn't scare me.
Mr. Harvey did. He was scary, but it wasn't just his looks that scared me. It was also what he represented: The thought that the kind, loving man, or woman, next door could be a cruel child molester.
That's chilling.
That's true cinema.
