Review of The Lovely Bones (2009) by Magnus S — 16 Nov 2018
The Lovely Bones is a supernatural drama film from 2009 directed by Peter Jackson. The Salmon family lives in a nice suburban town in a house that contains a mother, father, two daughters and a son. The family is flooded with devastation when their oldest daughter, Susie Salmon, is kidnapped and murdered.
As Susie is stuck in the in-between both her and her family have a very difficult time adapting to her death. As the police fail time and time again to find the Salmonsâ(TM) daughter's murderer the family starts to crumble.
The majority of the film is spent trying to rebuild the broken family that the Salmons have become. As the film comes to an end the family becomes one again for the needs of healing and comfort. Susie refers to this healing process as âthe lovely bonesâ? that have formed in lieu of her vacancy.
When tragedy strikes a family, they can come apart but eventually will find themselves back together in the end.
