Review of The Lost Weekend (1945) by Jordan R — 30 Oct 2007
With the impeccable direction and writing from Billy Wilder and the awe-inspiring performance from Ray Milland, this film is tremendous the whole way through. Spellbinding and intelligent, this is a great film that captures the despair and loneliness of alcoholism.
The film seems "simplistic" because the characters don't know how to handle alcoholism, but nothing is simple about Wilder's film. It's great.
