Review of The Lost Weekend (1945) by Darryl N — 30 Sep 2013
Wonderfully acted, honestly depicted and with strongly developed characters, The Lost Weekend is a cinema classic with an important message and sincere portrayal of alcoholism and although a different (bad) ending could have had a bigger impact, its actual ending is also very good with its optimistic tone that inflicts hope to people who share the problem.
The frightening imagination sequence is superb and the mention of the pink elephants is a nice touch - a great reference to a great movie. This is a phenomenal film that is one of the very best in its decade and it's a shame how many people forget about this one when talking about classic films when it clearly belongs in the classic department.
