An absolute classic from Wilder and probably one of the darkest old movies I've ever seen... Milland plays the character with such a duality that you can't help but root for him throughout his triumphs and failures while drinking.
.. It's not sensationalized nor glamourized... Just a realistic portrayal of the horrors of addiction...
