Review of The Lost Weekend (1945) by Darryl J — 06 May 2008
Rack up another hit for Billy Wilder.
I'm like a broken record with this shit but I must say ,yet again, that Wilder was ahead of his time. He handles this difficult subject with such grace. It's apparent to see where the super popular addiction movies like Trainspotting and requiem got their source material from. Billy Wilder's direction and script are stellar as usual. Ray Millland is great as an alcoholic mess. Jane Wyman is also worth noting. She has great chemistry with Milland. The scene that really disturbed me was the one with the bird and the mouse.uguhuguhuguh.
