Review of The Lost City of Z (2017) by Robert M — 23 Apr 2017
Nowhere near as good as the book. Tries too hard to turn its main character into an out-and-out hero, rather than truly dealing with the anti-heroic aspects of his character - monomaniacal, willing to sacrifice everything, including his family.
They gave him convenient moral ground as anti-racist but I didn't buy it - especially when the film's experience with the natives is very outsider. The result is so much more boring than it should have been.
