Review of The Lords of Salem (2013) by Derek S — 22 Apr 2013
This film is weird! It's extremely graphic, and very, very blasphemous! Any fan of Rob Zombies earlier work... This is NOT like any other film Zombie has done! This film is extremely bleak, and in no way shape or form do you leave the theater happy! I had to let this film soak in my brain before I said anything about it.
As the end credits were rolling, I felt like I had just watched a film students art house project. It resembles Roman Polanski's, Rosemary's Baby, on a crazy acid trip, with just a odd touch of Kubrick's The Shinning.
There was none of Rob Zombies patented "hillbilly horror" in this film at all. This is a dead serious film shot for dirt cheap! Any fan of zombie will defiantly go see this I'm sure! I just hope you keep an open mind when watching it, because this is a step out of the typical Rob Zombie box.
The cinematography was great! The soundtrack was also fantastic! This had some pretty un nerving scenes here and there, but all and all I liked this film. I'm looking forward to zombies next film, witch will be a step out of the horror genre all together, with The Broad Street Bullies.
(About the Philadelphia Flyers from back in the 70's I believe.....
